Dr. Viterbo was born and raised in Brooklyn NY. He attended Stony Brook University, where he majored in Pharmacology and graduated Magna Cum laude. He completed the combined MD, PhD degree at SUNY Downstate medical center. He successfully defended and published his thesis on acute pancreatitis. He completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency requirements at Yale New Haven Hospital. He subsequently completed a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Columbia Presbyterian hospital. He then went on to complete a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at UT Southwestern in Dallas TX. He gained extensive training in all aspects of advanced and therapeutic endoscopy including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP.

Dr. Viterbo joined Albany Gastroenterology Consultants in 2018. He speaks Italian fluently. Dr. Viterbo is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
