Dr. James V. Puleo II

Dr. James V. Puleo II is a seasoned physician who joined Albany Gastroenterology Consultants in 2015. Dr. Puleo is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith College, where he earned his bachelor of science I biology. He then attended Albany Medical College and completed his internal medicine internship and residency and at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Following his residency, Dr. Puleo completed a gastroenterology fellowship at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Puleo has been the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Albert Yunich Award for Gastroenterology, the Special Senior Medical Student Award, the American College of Gastroenterology National Fellows Forum, the Northeast Health Caring, Collaboration and Commendation award, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Physician of the Year, and the Northeast Health St. Peter’s Health Partners Founders award.

Dr. Puleo is a member of the Medical Society of the County of Albany, the Medical Society of the State of New York, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Medical Association. He is a member of the Albany Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, chief of Albany Memorial Hospital’s Division of Gastroenterology and a member of the Albany Memorial Hospital Medical Executive Board.

A native of Albany, NY, Dr. Puleo currently resides in Loudonville, NY.
