Dr. Shai Posner

Dr. Shai Posner graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brandeis University with his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He subsequently matriculated to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai for medical school, where he was elected to the Alpha-Omega-Alpha Honor Medical Society. During medical school, he completed a fellowship in Medical Ethics at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. Although a native New Yorker, he traveled South to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at Duke University (while maintaining his devotion to the Syracuse Orange). He remained at Duke for his Fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

While at Duke, Dr. Posner developed a strong interest with numerous publications in areas of esophagology and motility. He specializes in the treatment of swallowing disorders, eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). He completed a fellowship in motility through the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society where he developed additional special interest in the treatment of gastroparesis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and anorectal disorders.

Dr. Posner is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society, and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

In his free time, Dr. Posner enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, cooking, reading science fiction, playing piano, and golf.
