Kim Sheldon graduated in 1990 with her RN diploma from Albany Memorial School of Nursing, working for 12 years as a pediatric nurse. With a passion for medicine and wellness, she graduated from the Albany Med/HVCC Physician Assistant Program in 2001. Working in Urgent Care/Emergency and family medicine, she was drawn to helping people get and stay healthy, optimizing their total wellness. She always had an interest in a holistic approach to health and wellness and began practicing yoga and studying Ayurveda, the oldest system of medicine used today.

Gastroenterology was a natural next step allowing her to blend the Ayurveda philosophy that food is medicine and proper diet is key to wellness with modern medicine. Kim has been employed with Albany Gastroenterology Consultants since 2014 where she works in the hospital setting at St. Peter’s and Albany Memorial hospitals. Her passion is helping patients understand how their diet and lifestyles affect their wellness and how small changes and better choices, specific to their medical condition, can improve their health and well-being.

She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and the National Ayurvedic Medical Associations.
